ARE SHELL ON WHEELS AND THE MOBILE SHELL THE SAME THING? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM?

Shell on Wheels is our outreach initiative which encompassess all of outreach efforts, including but not limited to events utilizing the Mobile Shell.  The Mobile Shell is our brand new, half-scale mobile replica of the Overton Park Shell which can be rented for corporate events, festivals, concerts, and community events

WHAT DOES SHELL ON WHEELS DO? WHAT IS THE GOAL OF A SHELL ON WHEELS OUTREACH INITIATIVE?

Shell on Wheels brings the mission of the Overton Park Shell to all areas of Memphis and Shelby County lacking access to the Shell; continuing our mission of building community through the performing arts. Our goal is to amplify the work of the talented Memphis arts community and partner with new and existing events throughout the community.

WHAT IS EVENT PARTNERSHIP WITH SHELL ON WHEELS? WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

We aim to make the performing arts accessible to all, but we know it’s not always easy or affordable to get live music at your event. We supply a turnkey solution that provides the infrastructure and talent needed to make your community event come to life. Partner events receive discounted rates, and your event may be eligible if it:

  • activates neighborhood spaces

  • offers free admission

  • meets our mission of building community

  • is organized/presented by a nonprofit organization

IS THE MOBILE SHELL AVAILABLE TO RENT FOR AN EVENT? WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RENT THE MOBILE SHELL?

YES! The Mobile Shell is available for rental for corporate events, family gatherings, nonprofit fundraising events, festivals, and more. We offer reduced pricing options for qualified nonprofit organizations.

WHAT IS INCLUDED WHEN I RENT THE MOBILE SHELL? HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Renting the Mobile Shell is a turnkey experience. The stage comes equipped with lights, sound and power. Additionally, we provide two engineers who manage sound and lights, as well as the CDL driver who brings the Mobile Shell to you. Artist or rental client must provide their own backline.

WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE MOBILE SHELL? WILL IT FIT AT MY EVENT?

When the Mobile Shell is closed, it's 8'-6” wide x 13’-4” high and 40ft long. When it hydraulically opens, it is a 30x40ft stage with a 11ft 'shell' facade. A member of our Shell on Wheels Operations Team will assess your location to ensure that the Mobile Shell will fit your space.
